Performance management is the process of ensuring that a set of activities and outputs meets an organization’s goals in an effective and efficient manner. Performance management is an ongoing process of communication between a supervisor and an employee that occurs throughout the year, in support of accomplishing the strategic objectives of the organization. Performance management is a set of processes and systems aimed at developing an employee so they perform their job to the best of their ability. Performance management is not aimed at improving all skills. In fact, good performance management focuses on improving the skills that help an employee do their job better.
